Weddings at Harvey's Point

A lakeside hotel on Lough Eske, beneath the Bluestack Mountains. What to know about the venue, and what to think about if you want it captured well on film.

A personal one

Seen from the other side of the camera

Jamie got married at Harvey's Point in May 2025, so this is one venue he knows as a groom before a filmmaker: the walk down to the lough, how the day flows between the rooms, and how quickly it all goes.

If you are getting married here, he would love to film it.

About the venue

On the shore of Lough Eske

Harvey's Point is a four-star lakeside hotel on Lough Eske, about 6 km from Donegal Town with the Bluestack Mountains behind it. Civil ceremonies can be held outdoors on the lakeside pier or indoors in the licensed Garden Suite, which is also the fallback if the weather turns. Receptions are held in the Ballroom, which looks out over the lake.

Planning for the film

A few things worth thinking about at a lakeside venue like this one.

Vows by the water

Outdoor ceremonies by a lake can catch the wind, so microphones on the couple and the celebrant matter even more. That way the vows are clear, not just the view.

Have a weather plan

Irish weather does what it likes. With the Garden Suite as the indoor option, the film works either way; it is worth deciding early so everyone knows the plan.

Save time for the lough

The lake and the mountains are the reason most couples choose Harvey's Point. A short walk down to the water in the evening light is worth building into the day.
